This call reads or sets the escape effects. A non-zero state disables escape effects. A state of 0 (the default) enables escape effects - when escape is acknowledged:

·     active output buffers are flushed
·     current *Exec file closed
·     VDU queue cleared
·     VDU paged line count cleared
·     Terminates any sound being produced
