Mobile IMAP clients are notoriously slow to connect to IMAP mail servers
because of the large volume of data exchanged in order to ensure that the
client is synchronized with the server. This problem is amplified when the
mobile terminal is moving which exasperates the connection problems they
tend to have: low bandwidth allocations, out-of-range disconnects, and poor
connection quality to the cell/WLAN network.
