This document provides guidelines for implementors using the transmission
control protocol (TCP) in the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Although
the discussions in this document pertain to TCP, the core ideas presented
in the document should be applicable to any stream-oriented transport,
including Transport Layer Security (TLS) over TCP and the Stream Control
Transport Protocol (SCTP).
