The Server Message Block (SMB) protocol is one of the most widely used
network file system protocols in existence. This document describes the
format of the SMB Uniform Resource Indicator (SMB URI). The SMB URI can be
used to indicate SMB workgroups, servers, shares, directories, files,
inter-process communications pipes, print queues, and devices; the objects
in the SMB network file system space.
