File types are three-digit hexadecimal numbers which the computer
uses to identify what a file contains. The file type allocation
is set down by Acorn as described below. The actual usage of
filetypes should be cut down and we should begin to use types
with are appropriate to their subject, rather than invent new
ones for the sake of it.
